My go to dual screen finder replacement

I've been looking for a dual pane finder for quite a while. I had paid the money for PathFinder, but found it to be so incredibly slow at moving files on network shares that I considered it unusable. Commander One has a lot of the functionality of PathFinder and it does everything pretty well. The only small negative I have is in how it highlights selected files and directories.

Developer Response,

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us this positive review.
I would like to inform you that file selection functionality will be improved in the next major update of the app.

Great Mac finder, especially reliable, clear UI like Total Commander

Very pleased to see this. Please continue developing ;-) . Devs seem responsive: I asked for alternate line shading in the browser….and it soon appeared in an update! Plug in options to add features would be nice. TC (TotalCommander) has been in development for so long it has most features one could possibly dream of-but I never use Win any more. Wonder what the Commander One development plan looks like??
I wish this were available the first 6 or 8 years after I switched to Macs! I was in total TotalCommander withdrawal (except for use in a VM). So I learned to use finder & pathfinder and don’t use CommanderOnePro as my only finder. But CommanderOne is solid and great! E.g. the archive features (different compress engines builtin, plus ability to view archive as a directory-without dearchiving) are better than most other mac file managers. And the design with the option of old fashioned function keys for copy/move--looks clunky at first--but is 100% more reliable than drag/drop for critical file management tasks. Plus this’ll give me directory sizes for internal or external drives instantly—unlike other finders which often churn away or fail to update.

Developer Response,

Thank you for taking the time to review our software. The team here at Eltima is thrilled to hear such good feedback, and we’re more than happy to have such customers as you.

my review

Firstly i was a hardcore Total Commander user, can’t live without it. And after switch to MacOS i’ve searched for an alternative and i was very sad that all of the available file managers lack features that is must have for me, ugly or just acts weird. Than I found Commander Pro. This is the best alternative for TC.
Here are few possible enhancements imho:
- copy/move files: if one file is selected for copy/move the filename needs to be filled in the end of path input, so you can rename the file if you want
- file overwrite: for me this is the worst implementation. Why is the “keep both” the deafult? is anybody use this? imho the default is need to be cancel and need some shortcut or able to switch options with the cursors. Oh and the 'apply to all' needs to be an option not a checkbox. For this the TC is the golden standard.
- the built in viewer need to open any unknow format in text mode, not in hex
- draging files need some enhancements. When i like to drag file it always keeps select files, and when i like to select files it drag one of them
- the calculate dir size feature need some process indicator that it is in the process. Check TC for example.
Keep going!

Developer Response,

Thank you for your posted feedback. Please see our commentaries below:
1) There is an option copy and rename file at the same time. Just press F5, then put a slash in the path field and type the required file name after the slash. If you copy only one file and type a new name after the slash, the file will be renamed and will appear with the new name in the target pane.
2) In order to skip this 'keep both', please go to System Preferences-> Keyboard-> Shortcuts and activate 'All Controls' option.
3) Commander One’s built-in file viewer is available via F3 and is designed for viewing files in different formats. You can choose between the following viewing modes: https://www.eltima.com/wiki/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/c1-file-view.png
4) Our developers will improve the drag and drop option in further update of the app.
5) I've passed this feedback to our developers to consider adding such an option.

  • How to update Skype for Business 2016 client (Office 365 version) on Windows
    • This version should receive automatic updates from Office 365. If your client does NOT auto update, please see this article Skype for Business, Updating Skype for Business Office 365 Versions for steps on how to force the update for your client.

Or contact your IT department for help updating your Lync or Skype for Business client version.

What happens if I don't or can't upgrade?

In most cases, updates to this software should be getting installed automatically. One reason why we have instituted the minimum version blocking is that without that warning sign, ultimately some customers would never know that this automatic process is failing for their machine, leaving their personal work data and machines subject to unpatched security vulnerabilities and software bugs. If you aren't able to upgrade, it is likely that your machine has not been successfully updated for some time with likely more than just the Lync or Skype for Business software being significantly out of date.

The challenge for our instructions and documentation is that we cannot address how updates are handled in a customized way across all departments and colleges. If you are having problems updating your Lync or Skype for Business client, please contact your IT department for help updating your machine. If you aren't sure who that would be, please contact the Help Desk (244-7000) and they can locate them for you.

Windows clients and Mac 2011 clients that do not meet minimum version requirements will not be able to log in and will receive error messages similar to the following messages.

Windows client

Lync for Mac 2011 client

Why implement a minimum Lync/Skype for Business client policy?

  • The newest versions of the Lync/Skype for Business client provide more features and functions.
  • Older versions contain security vulnerabilities.
  • If all clients are at a minimum version, all Lync/Skype for Business users have a better experience communicating with each other.
  • Users with up-to-date client software require less technical support.

  3. Ssh client free download - FileZilla Client, Vuze BitTorrent Client, Carracho Client, and many more programs.

PuTTY is the most popular SSH Connection Clients, however, it is a very basic SSH Client. I have tried:

  • coachilla
  • SSH tunnel manager
  • Tunnelblick

tunneling manually through terminal is fine, but time consuming and I have hundreds of servers I have to log into and it is much easier if I can use a client. All the clients I have found work, but they can't handle jumping through jump host first and then server.

Does anyone know of any Mac GUI ssh tunelling clients that are capable of this?

THanks in advance.

When i open accounts and password and try to make my phone remember the password to this app there is a blank field that i need to fill and it says website and if I don’t fill it the process won’t be done actually I want the phone to remember the pass for this app not any website I really don’t know what to do

Developer Response,

You should be able to put anything you want in this field as a label.

VPN Automatically connects without user permission

At least once daily, at a random time of day, the VPN will connect automatically and with no notification that it has done so. The little VPN logo just pops up on the top left all of a sudden. Considering a VPN routes all traffic through Cisco's network, this is an unacceptable privacy invasion. Also annoying bc there are random websites like 9to5mac that are blocked by Cisco and before I realized what was happening, was confused as to why it wasn't loading suddenly. The only way to prevent this is to delete the app between uses and reinstall. Before using the VPN for the first time each install, it won't auto connect so I basically avoid this app like the plague.
I do work at Cisco and yes it does. Something is turning it on without me opening any Cisco apps including any connections so this is because of Cisco not another IT department

Developer Response,

AnyConnect does not automatically connect; it is only triggered by the UI or by On-Demand or Per-App VPN profiles configured on the device. If these profiles are pushed to your device by your IT department we have no control over that. Also, the VPN traffic does not go over Cisco's network (unless you work for Cisco); it travels through your own corporate network to which you are connecting.

Works with 11.2 with caveat

With the server side workaround, AnyConnect now works on iOS 11.2, so I'm revising my rating from 1 to 5 stars.
Previous review: The VPN client will fail to establish a connection if running on a device with cellular and Wi-Fi both enabled. I reported this bug months ago but nobody has fixed it yet. Workaround is to disable cellular then you will be able to establish a VPN connection over Wi-Fi. If you want to establish a VPN connection over cellular, you will need to disable Wi-Fi.

For

Developer Response,

Hi Seth, this problem is due to an unannounced change in iOS 11.2 (and macOS 10.13.2), and it only affects a very specific configuration (it requires changing a default configuration item). I think you and I have been emailing on this, and your IT department is aware of the problem and also has a case open with Apple. Theyhave been informed of a workaround, and I just sent a followup email as a reminder, so please be patient. In the meantime you can delete the profile using the AnyConnect UI and should be able to establish a connection. If the server workaround has not been implemented the next connection will fail but you can repeat the process.

I need to help someone running Mac OS X (10.5.8) to create a VPN tunnel to my Cisco ASA5505 firewall in order to access some files that reside on my Windows network. In the past, I have only connected other Windows users using the Cisco VPN Client software. I did obtain the Mac version of the Cisco VPN software (Cisco AnyConnect, which uses SSL), but the user feels that it should not be necessary to install this software on her Mac in order to access the shared drive. I require VPN connections rather than poking a hole in the firewall for VNC, etc. Before I tell this user that my Cisco AnyConnect software *must* be installed, I wanted to see if there are other options, since I know very little about Mac OS X.
I contacted Cisco, and they confirmed that other client software besides their own Cisco software can create VPN tunnels on this device, since VPN is built on an open standard like IPSec and SSL. However, they will not provide further details about non-Cisco software.

Cisco Anyconnect Client For Mac Uses Pgp Encryption Key

Does anyone know if Mac OS X comes with VPN tunneling software? What other VPN client software might be recommended for connecting a Mac to a Cisco firewall? Finally, once the VPN tunnel is established, does anyone know the best way to use Mac OS X to map the drive?

FireFTP is a Firefox extension that integrates a powerful FTP client directly into our favorite browser. FireFTP isn't the most feature-rich client of the bunch, but if all you need is a simple FTP client for the occasional upload or download, FireFTP is more than up for the job. Even better: You don't have to install a separate program for FTP, since it all runs from the warm and fuzzy comfort of the 'fox. If you're running Firefox Portable on your thumb drive, you can take FireFTP with you wherever you go.

FileZilla (All Platforms)

Users stick around because FileZilla is a fast, full-featured (it also has remote file editing), and reliable FTP client in constant development. There's even a portable version you can toss on your thumb drive to use FileZilla on the go. Finally, if you're a Windows user you can even use FileZilla to build your own home FTP server.

Mysql Gui Client For Mac

Being able to support OSX Mac clients with SSTP has been something I have struggled with for a long time but this solution works perfectly and is easier. I have read Windows SSTP VPN - connect from Mac but the instructions are too terse for me. I want to connect to a VPN using SSTP and a certificate. I've installed the certificate in Keychain using the instructions for How to Import and Export SSL Certificates in Mac 10.7, although I'm using Mac OS X 10.11.6 the instructions seem fine.

I've installed sstp-client but I can't get it to run (see Edit below). I used the commend line:

inserting appropriate values for <user>, <password> and <server>. The username is domainuserID which I enclosed in double quotes due to the backslash, and the server included the port number (like foo.bar.net:443) so I put that in double quotes too.

I'm asked for a password, then get an error message:

Running:

returns:

where 'userfoo' is my username.

Trying in iSstp, I've filled in all the details as for the commend line, the command options are the default:

then selecting Connect runs for a few seconds then returns 'Not Connected!'.

I've also tried looking through https://www.axot.org/2015/03/03/isstp-a-sstp-client-for-mac-osx/ but no success there either.

Can anyone help me out with a suitable command line or iSstp setup?

Edit

One issue was that there was one too many 'sstp' in the command, it should have been:

While that get's the command to run, I'm then asked for my password and the terminal never returns. Similarly in iSSTP, which attempts to connect for a few seconds, then times out.

Mac

Reading the manual for SSTPC, I turned on logging and got to:

So seems to be a certificate issue. What is '(-2)'?

This question came from our site for professional and enthusiast programmers.

1 Answer

Please try to change the username in iSstp to DomainUsername, use two backslash.

If it is still not connected, try to run the command line using sstpc from homebrew you installed, i.e. use '/usr/local/sbin/sstpc' instead of '/usr/local/sbin/sstpc/sstpc' in you original command line.

If command line works (it should work), then you can replace the sstpc file in iSstp package with the sstpc from homebrew, change the destination directory to where your iSstp.app located.

Now you can try iSstp again, it will work too.

If iSstp still doesn't work, please report herehttps://github.com/axot/isstp/issues

MacOS provides native support for connecting to the IT Services Cisco-based VPN service. Please note that IT Services support the current and two previous versions of macOS only; for details of supported versions please refer to the Apple Mac Support page.

This document contains instructions on how to configure the native VPN client that comes with macOS. In order to use the VPN service you will also need to have the necessary Remote Access Services username and passwords - for details see the main IT Services VPN Service page.

Please make sure that you have read the introduction and general requirements, which apply to all VPN clients, before attempting to configure your computer or mobile device to connect to the VPN.

1. Requirements

There are a number of requirements necessary in order to use the VPN service on Apple Macintoshes; these are detailed below.

  • Your computer must be running a supported version of macOS (see Apple Mac Support page for details).
  • You computer must already have a connection to the Internet (e.g. via NTL, Compuserve, broadband, ADSL, etc., etc.)
  • You must have a Remote Access Services account.
  • You must be able to log on as an Administrator of your Mac.

2. Obtaining the prerequisite information for configuring the inbuilt VPN client

As part of the process of configuring the inbuilt VPN client you will need to supply some group configuration information. Members of Oxford University can download a file containing this information from the IT Services Self-Registration Software Registration and Downloads web page. Once on this page select VPN client from the list. On the next page that appears select VPN shared credentials. A window containing the information should now pop up on your desktop. Make a note of the IPSec secret as you will need this information later on (it will be referred to as the shared secret) and then close the window using the close window link.

You have now obtained the information that you need from the Self-registration web pages.

3. Configuring and using the inbuilt VPN client

To use the macOS inbuilt support for Cisco VPN you will first need to open [System Preferences], which you can do from the dock, the [Apple] menu or by finding it in the Applications folder.

From the [System Preferences] window click the Network icon to bring up the Network window.

Click the + at the bottom of the left hand pane to bring up a dialogue window to add a new network interface. Within the dialogue window make the follow changes:

  • set the Interface drop down menu to VPN
  • set the VPN type drop down menu to Cisco IP Sec
  • change the Service Name field to something that is meaningful to you, eg VPN (OUCS)

Finally, click the Create to add the new interface. This will return you to the Network window with the newly added interface ready to configure. To configure the interface make the following changes:

  • set the Server Address field to vpn.ox.ac.uk
  • set the Account name and Password fields to your remote access account name and password

Next click the Authentication Settings... button to bring up another dialogue window which requires the following information:

  • click the Shared secret radio button and fill in the text field using the information that you obtained earlier
  • set the Group Name field to oxford

Click the OK button to return to the Network window. If you are likely to use the VPN client regularly you may want to include the status of the VPN connection in your menu bar. If you do want to do this you must tick the check box labelled Show VPN status in menu bar.

Finally, click the Apply button to complete the configuration for this new VPN interface. The new interface should now appear in the left hand pane indicated by a locked padlock icon. Note that the status of the interface will show as Not connected.

To make a connection to the VPN service simply click the Connect found on the Network window. (This can be found underneath the Authentication Settings... button.) Once the connection has been established the Network window will show that the status of the VPN interface has changed to Connected and it will display the connect time and the IP address.

4. Connecting to the IT Services VPN service using the inbuilt VPN client

Once you have configured a network interface on your Mac to connect to the IT Services VPN service you can make a VPN connection whenever you need to. To connect via the inbuilt client:

  • Open [System Preferences]
  • Click the Network icon to switch to the Network window
  • Select the VPN connection you configured previously (in this example called VPN (OUCS)) in the left hand pane
  • Click the Connect button (found underneath the Authentication Settings... button)

Do remember to disconnect from the VPN service once you no longer need it by clicking the Disconnect button within the Network window.

Alternatively, if you chose to include the status of the VPN connection in your menu bar by ticking the box labelled Show VPN status in menu bar during the configuration process you can connect and disconnect using the VPN icon in the top menu bar. Look for the VPN icon in the top menu bar and click the icon to bring up the drop down menu.

Simply choose the [Connect] option from this menu to make a VPN connection. You can also use this menu to disconnect your session once you no longer need it.

Free Vpn Client For Mac

Juniper Network Connect Software Downloads. Posted By Mark Lang on Jan 11. DoIT’s Data Network Services team released new VPN client programs for the Mac OS X. I have confirmed that the downloads will install Juniper Network connect and allow you to connect to the Stony Brook University Campus. Currently, there are a few VPN clients that runs on the Macintosh platform. MacPGP from PGP Corporation. That product is PGP Corporate Desktop, and is only available for Mac OS 9. I read some topics where people speak about a VPN Client for MacOSX from Juniper, but I don't find anything about it on juniper website. My issue is that my company don't give me the pre-shared key, in this way is impossible to use standard VPN client software like VPN Tracker, so I'm able to connect only with windows client using the.spd file provided by my IT services. As of the writing of this article, the following clients are supported for Dynamic-VPN connections on SRX: Windows 7 (32-bit and 64-bit) Windows XP (32-bit and 64-bit) The Junos Access Manager Dynamic VPN client is supported on the following Operating Systems (platforms): Windows XP 32-bit and 64-bit with any service pack Windows Vista 32-bit.

I did an uninstall (I used appdelete) then downloaded the VPN client from the VPN
it turns out the client is easily obtained manually by using
(URL of your webvpn)/dana-cached/nc/NetworkConnect.dmg
this downloads the disk image file, then you can run the setup program from there – once I did that, it worked fine without any further modifications.
